SnapSafe
Last updated 2026-07-12
Scans, allergy profiles, and pantry items stay on your device. Attribution events are consent-gated and never include scan content.
SnapSafe is built by Jacob Teague. This page explains what data the app collects, how it is stored, and what rights you have. We do not sell personal information, and user-entered app content is never shared with other users.
What stays on your device
SnapSafeis local-first. There is no account to create. The following data is kept in iOS local storage on your iPhone, protected by your device passcode and Apple's app sandbox, and never leaves the device:
- Photos and scans stored in SnapSafe
- Allergy profiles and diet settings
- Pantry items and scan history
- Subscription status and app settings
Delete the app and this data goes with it. You can also clear data without deleting the app from the app's Settings.
Attribution and app analytics
SnapSafe uses App Tracking Transparency–gated attribution tooling (AppsFlyer)to understand which marketing campaigns lead to installs and where people stop in the app flow. These tools only run after you respond to the iOS tracking prompt; if you deny tracking, the app falls back to limited measurement that does not use your device's advertising identifier.
Attribution events are intentionally limited: app name, anonymous device or install identifiers, campaign metadata, and privacy-safe funnel events such as app open, onboarding started or completed, paywall viewed, and purchase status. They never include the content you enter in the app — no health entries, journal text, photos, notes, personal numbers, names, emails, or account credentials.
Purchases
Paid subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. The app receives a purchase status signal from RevenueCat, the purchase management provider, which validates purchase receipts from Apple. RevenueCat learns that you purchased — never what you entered in the app. Manage or cancel anytime in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
Informational, not dietary advice
SnapSafe helps you read food labels. It is not medical or dietary advice, and it is not a substitute for professional guidance on allergies or medical conditions. Always verify ingredient information on the physical product packaging.
